WProf is a frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar operating at 94 GHz. It allows to measure with different range and Doppler resolutions using typically three vertical chirps. The main variables retrieved are the equivalent reflectivity factor Z, the mean Doppler velocity VD, the Doppler spectral width, skewness and kurtosis. The full Doppler spectrum is also available. WProf contains a 89 GHz radiometer, which can be used to retrieve the liquid water path. More details on WProf can be found in Küchler et al. (2017).
