AeRosol cloud lIdar System (ARIS lidar)

PI: Prof. Alex Papayannis, NTUA, Greece Operators: Dr. Christos Kaltsonoudis (CSTACC)

The AeRosol cloud lIdar System (ARIS lidar) of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) is part of a cluster of 6 lidars belonging to the lrsu.physics.ntua.gr (NTUA). ARIS emits at 532 nm and has a 150 mm receiving telescope. It is a compact lidar system able to cover a range of 0.2 up to 7-9 km. It provides the aerosol backscatter coeffiient profile, as well as the cloud geometrical and optical properties. ARIS, during the CALISHTO Campaign will be located at the Center of Studies on Air quality and Climate Change at the Institute of Chemical Engineering of the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas at Patras, Greece. It will help to characterize the air masses arriving at the Helmos Mountain and coming from the western borders of Greece.
