Aerosol Chemical Speciation Monitor (ACSM,  Aerodyne)

The Time of Flight Aerosol Chemical Speciation Monitor (ToF-ACSM) (Aerodyne Research Inc., Billerica, MA, USA) performs long-term real-time monitoring and chemical characterization of the non-refractory species of submicron ambient aerosols. The mass concentration of particulate organics, sulphate, nitrate, ammonium and chloride is measured with 10-minutes resolution and the detection limit is <0.2 μg/m3 for 30-minutes averaging. The instrument is based on aerodynamic particle focusing lens, vaporization of the particles on a tungsten plate, electron impact ionization and time of flight mass spectrometry.
